Gardening Afternoon

Many hands made light work for the gardening afternoon at Happyhansel. There were beds to dig over and plant, seedlings to prick out and re-pot and weeds to be pulled. Ably led by our green-fingered staff, Mrs Garrick and Mrs Fleck, an army of pupils and parent helpers got to work and achieved a huge amount in a short period of time. We look forward to eating some of the vegetables we have planted once they have grown and we hope to raise some money again through selling the bedding plants later in the term.
It was lovely to be able to welcome parents back to the school to work alongside their children.

Voar Redd Up

Both Primary classes were involved in the Voar Redd Up last Wednesday. It was a lovely afternoon and once the pupils were kitted out with gloves, high visibility vests and bags we set off.

P1-4 headed in the direction of the shop and spent most of their time clearing the beach and high water mark by the bridge. P5-7 set off along New Road all the way to the Pier. They cleared the beach just past the pier and then returned to clean the beach near the graveyard. The children worked enthusiastically for the whole afternoon and we would also like to thank the parent/carer  volunteers who came along to help.

World Book Day

World Book Day was last Thursday, 3rd March. P5-7 made some artwork to show some of their favourite books. Can you figure out from the self-portraits who they all are?

The two classes also got together for some paired reading. The older pupils enjoyed the opportunity to find a cosy corner and read stories alongside the younger pupils. Favourite stories were re-read and new ones were discovered.
